racism - what is God's opinion about it?

what does the
Bible say about it?

John 4:9 --- She said to Jesus, "You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink?

Even though Samaritans were looked at as 'half-breeds' back then, Jesus still went out of His way to not only spend time with this woman, but to show her the love from God that she needed... He cared about her.

Luke 10:33 --- Then a despised Samaritan came along....

Jesus told a story in this passage about a 'despised' Samaritan. Jesus blew them away by making this Samaritan the hero of the story. Jesus detested racism, which is based on pride and hatred.

Colossians 3:11 --- Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.

1 Samuel 16:7b --- Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.

God's church should not be focussed on a person's race, but on their soul. To focus on the external rather than on the internal is both shallow and ungodly.

[When is says, "Christ is in all, it mean "in all that are saved." The context of this verse is very clear about that.]

Ephesians 2:14 --- Christ Himself has made peace between us Jews and you Gentiles by making us all one people. He has broken down the wall of hostility that used to separate us.

Galatians 3:28 --- There is no longer Jew or Gentile... for you are all Christians --- you are one in Christ Jesus.

Jesus Christ tore down the walls that separated us. It's His desire that we be 'one.' It would be arrogance to think we know a better way that Jesus, and built those separating walls back up. If He wants them down, then they should stay down!

[The word "Gentile" means "non-Jew."]

John 3:16 --- For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Father God thinks that each person of each race is so valuable and precious to Him that they are worth Him giving up His most precious possession-- His only begotten Son. When we look down on another person because of their race, we are foolishly saying that we don't think God knows what He's talking about. We are saying that God messed up when He was willing to send His Son to die for "those people." This is gross arrogance, and is detestable to God.

Please don't allow the sin of racism to find its way into your heart. If it's there, ask God to forgive you, and begin now biewing other people the way that God views them: valuable enough to send His Son to die for!
